Quick Start
When first opening MiCasa, you will be prompted to enter your server settings on the configuration screen:

ADDRESS: Enter the web or IP address of your EZSrve or EZBridge server. This should either be in the form of an IP address (example: http://192.168.1.100), or a web address (example: http://www.myserver.com/). For accessing your server from outside of your local network, see the "how do I remotely access my server" question below.
PORT: This is the TCP port number used to access your server. Enter the port number for your server. The default port value for the SmartHome SmartLink 2412N is 9761. The default port value for the SimpleHomeNet EZSrve server is 8002. If you are accessing your server from outside of your local network, see the "how do I remotely access my server" question below.
Upgrade to More Devices: If you have installed the "lite" version of MiCasa, this button will appear until you have exceeded 30 device credits. If you have installed the full version or have purchased 30 device credits, this button will not appear.
When the server information has been completed, click the "done" button and MiCasa will connect to your server and begin allowing you to control your devices.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1) I edited my SmartLinc settings and set the port to 9761, and I entered 9761 into MiCasa's "Port" setting, but now MiCasa will not connect. What is wrong?
A1) if you edit your SmartLinc's settings via the SmartLinc web interface, DO NOT change the SmartLinc's port setting from the default of 80 to 9761. This port setting is for the HTTP service, and if you change it to 9761, it will conflict with the network service that MiCasa needs to access. Leave the SmartLinc's web interface set on the default port. The service that MiCasa needs is already running on port 9761.
Q2) What Home Automation Gateways are supported?
A2) Revision 1.1 and later:
- SmartLink 2412N from SmartHome.
- EZSrve and EZBridge from SimpleHomeNet.
Q3) How do I remotely access my server?
A3) If your Internet Service Provider dynamically assigns IP addresses, you will likely want to use a free dynamic name service such as DynDNS to provide you with a constant textual web address. Next, you will need to open a port through your firewall or internet gateway that you can remotely connect to. A good resource for instructions on port forwarding can be found at portforward.com. Once complete, you should be able to connect to your server remotely using the web address by DynDNS, at the port you have configured to be forwarded through your internet gateway/firewall.
Q4) When is MiCasa going to support more than just thermostats, switches, appliance modules, and dimmers?
A4) Support for I/O Modules, Sprinkler Controllers, and X10 modules may be added in a future release. The schedule has not been set yet. If you would like to request priority for your device, email support.
Q5) When is MiCasa going to support other types of home automation gateways?
A5) Possibly in future releases. The schedule has not been set yet. If you would like to request priority for your server, email support.
Q6) I received a server timeout error. Everything was working fine before that, and is still working fine now. Should I worry about it?
A6) The internet is a "best effort" service, and from time to time, messages are lost in route to their destination. If you are receiving a timeout error infrequently, there is likely nothing wrong with your setup. If you are receiving a timeout error often, there is likely something about your network that is causing excess delay or lost messages. If you are receiving errors more often than not, your network likely has some impairment that requires a more in-depth analysis by a network engineer to resolve.
Q7) Is the MiCasa iPhone software application affiliated with the company that makes the "MiCasa Verde" home automation gateway product?
A7) No. At this time, there is no affiliation between the MiCasa iPhone application and the company that produces the "MiCasa Verde" gateway.
Q8) A few seconds after I adjust a dimmer slider, it will move slightly. Is this normal?
A8) Yes. In MiCasa, dimmer adjustments are made in 1/32 increments. When a response is received from the dimmer being controlled, the control on the iPhone will adjust to the actual value that the dimmer was set to.
