Controlling your home from an iPhone
Here's what you need:
SmartLinc 2412N available at: www.smarthome.com.
EZSrve or EZBridge available at: www.simplehomenet.com.
2) You will need something to control. Insteon light switches, dimmers, and outlets are also available from the websites above.
3) If the devices you want to control and your controller are not on the same phase of your home wiring (most homes are wired with two major circuit branches that are different 110v phases of a 220v supply), you will need to purchase phase couplers available from www.smarthome.com. If you have a doubt, ask an electrician to look at it.
4) A wireless home router.
5) If you want to access devices when you are away from your home, you'll need a home internet connection.
6) A copy of MiCasa or MiCasa Lite from the iTunes App Store. Open the App Store on your iPhone and search for "MiCasa".
Getting Started:
1) If it is not connected already, install and configure your wireless router so that you can access the internet.
2) Configure your iPhone's wireless connection to connect to your home's wireless router.
3) Install the Insteon switches, outlets, or appliance controllers on the circuits that you want to control. If you have any doubts about your electrical skills, hire an electrician!
4) Plug in your home automation controller and connect it to your wireless router with an Ethernet cable. Follow your home automation controller's setup instructions. Make a note of the controller's IP address, you will need it later.
5) Link your Insteon switches or other devices with your home automation controller, as instructed in your home automation controller's documentation.
6) Verify that your home automation controller will now properly control your devices through the controller's web interface.
7) With your phone connected to your home wireless network, Install MiCasa on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Enter the IP address for your controller in MiCasa's settings screen. MiCasa will collect information about your home and show a list of devices you can control from your iPhone or iPod Touch.
